HAVE A LOOK AT THE FOLLOWING TUTOURIAL FOR TIPS & METHOD TO INSTALL YOUR OWN SYSTEM!

THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS ARE FOR
INSTALLING AN ALARM INTO A 1994-1997 FORD EXPLORER PROVIDED BY OUR COLLEGUE CHRIS TURSI

THE ALARM I AM USING FOR THIS VEHICLE IS AN ATEK-2000

THE FIRST STEP IS TO UNPACK THE ALARM SYSTEM, NEXT YOU WILL WANT TO "PREP" THE ALARM, REMOVE ANY EXCESS OR THE UNUSED WIRES, IN THIS CASE SINCE THE VEHICLE WE ARE DOING IS POS TRIGGER DOOR PIN WE WILL REMOVE THE GREEN WIRE.YOU MAY ALSO REMOVE THE BLUE WIRE, THIS IS FOR AN EXTRA SENSOR INPUT. NOW YOU EITHER WANT TO WRAP THE WIRES IN TAPE AND LEAVE ENOUGH WIRES OUT FOR THE INSTALLATION, OR AS SOME PEOPLE DO IS TWIST THE WIRES IN PAIRS USING A DRILL , NOT TOO TIGHT THOUGH!

NEXT STEP IS TO REMOVE THE DRIVERS KICK PANEL , THEN REMOVE THE UNDERDASH/KNEE PANEL, THIS CAN BE DONE BY REMOVING THE PHILLIPS HEAD SCREWS.NOW WE SHOULD REMOVE THE MESHING THAT HIDES AND CONTAINS OUR IGNITION HARNESS WIRES! CARFEFULLY USING A RAZOR KNIFE SLICE AND REMOVE THIS COVERING. WE NOW HAVE THE WIRES EXPOSED THAT ARE NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONE. FIRST WIRE I LIKE TO CONNECT IS THE GROUND WIRE,FIND A NICE FREE AREA TO GROUND THIS WIRE TO USING A SMALL RING TERMINAL AND SELF TAPPER SCREW(USUALLY IN THE KICK PANEL AREA)

NEXT CONNECT THE ALARMS RED WIRE FOR +12V POWER,THERE ARE 2 +12V CONSTANT WIRES IN THIS VEHICLE!

CONSTANT+12V-- YELLOW (2) IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS

WHICHEVER WIRE OUT OF THESE 2 YOU DECIDE TO USE , STRIP ABOUT 1/8 INCH OF INSULATION FROM THIS WIRE AND I LIKE TO USE THE TEST LIGHT TO MAKE A SMALL HOLE IN THE WIRE, NEXT STRIP THE RED WIRE FROM YOU ALARM HARNESS AND PASS THE WIRE THROUGH THE HOLE IN THE CONSTANT +12V WIRE, THEN TAPE IT UP NICE AND TIGHT!

NEXT WIRE TO HOOK UP IS THE IGNITION WIRE , THIS IS YELLOW COMING FROM THE ALARM, FIND THE L GREEN/PURPLE WIRE THIS WIRE WILL LIGHT YOUR TEST LIGHT WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY FORWARD AND CRANKING! ATTACH THE YELLOW WIRE FROM THE ALARM TO THIS WIRE IN THE SAME MANNER AS THE CONSTANT +12V. NEXT FIND THE RED/L BLUE IN THE VEHICLE HARNESS, THIS WIRE IS THE STARTER WIRE, TEST IT WITH YOUR LIGHT, THIS WIRE SHOULD ONLY LIGHT YOUR TEST LIGHT WHEN U CRANK THE CAR. CUT THIS WIRE IN THE MIDDLE, STRIP BOTH ENDS OF THE YELLOW WIRE,

Starter Kill: (Requires a 30 amp relay) The Orange wire from the alarm harness will go to pin 86 on the relay, the key side of the RED/L BLUE Starter Wire, will go to pins 30 & 85, and the motor side of the RED/L BLUE Starter Wire, will go to pin 87a. Your engine will start now but will not while the system is armed.

THE NEXT STEP IS TO HOOK UP OUR DOOR TRIGGER AND PARKING LIGHTS, THESE 2 WIRES COMING FROM THE ALARM ARE VIOLET FOR YOUR DOOR TRIGGER(POS INPUT) AND WHITE WIRE. FIRST FIND THE DOOR TRIGGER, IN THIS VEHICLE, THE DOOR TRIGGER IS BLACK/L BLUE LOCATED IN PASSENGER KICK PANEL, TEST THIS WIRE WITH YOUR TEST LIGHT, YOUR TEST LIGHT WILL ONLY LIGHT WHEN THE PIN SWITCH IS OUT, THE TEST LIGHT WILL GO OUT WHEN IT IS PUSHED IN. ATTACH THE ALARMS VIOLET WIRE TO THIS WIRE!

NEXT LETS FIND THE PARKING LIGHT WIRE,ON THIS VEHICLE, THE WIRE WE ARE LOOKING FOR IS A WHITE/PURPLE, THIS WIRE CAN BE FOUND AT THE DRIVERS KICK, STRIP BACK SOME INSULATION(BEING VERY CAREFULL NOT TO BREAK WIRE) AND ATTACH THE WHITE WIRE FROM THE ALARM TO THIS WIRE. NOW YOU HAVE FINISHED THE PARKING LIGHTS!!

NOW THE DOOR LOCKS!!

ON THIS VEHICLE THE WIRES ARE PINK/L GREEN FOR LOCK AND PINK/YELLOW FOR UNLOCK IF THIS VEHICLE HAS A KEYLESS ENTRY PAD ON THE DRIVER DOOR OUTSIDE, THEN THE DOOR LOCKS ARE NEGATIVE TRIGGER (* IF NOT THEN THIS IS A 5WIRE REVERSE POLARITY SYSTEM ** SEE DIAGRAM**) OK NOW FIND THE 2 DOORLOCK WIRES COMING FROM THE ALARM THESE ARE BLUE/WHITE AND GREEN/WHITE . IF THE VEHICLE HAS THE NEGATIVE TRIGGER LOCKS THEN YOU JUST HOOK THE GREEN/WHITE TO THE PINK/YELLOW AND THE BLUE/WHITE TO PINK/GREEN.

LETS MOVE TO THE SIREN, THIS GETS MOUNTED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT USING SELF TAPPERS, YOU CAN GROUND YOUR SIREN EITHER NEAR THE SIREN OR BRING BOTH WIRES INTO THE VEHICLE. USE A GROMMET IN THE FIREWALL TO GET THE WIRES INSIDE, MAKE A SMALL HOLE IF U HAVE TO (BEING VERY CAREFULL NOT TO PUNCTURE ANYTHING!!) NOW HOOK UP YOUR RED SIREN WIRE TO THE BROWN WIRE ON THE ALARM!

OKAY WE ARE ALMOST DONE, LETS FIND A SPOT TO MOUNT OUR LED, FIND AN EMPTY SPACE TO THE LEFT OF THE STEERING COLUMN ON THE DASH TO MOUNT THIS , USING A 1/4 HOLE. ONCE YOU MOUNT THE LED, SNAKE THE WIRE DOWN TO THE ALARM AND PLUG IT IN TO THE BRAIN!

NEXT LETS MOUNT THE VALET SWITCH, I LIKE TO USE THE KICK PANEL, TO MOUNT IT UP HIGH. MAKE SURE IT WONT INTERFERE WITH ANYTHING. DRILL A 5/16 HOLE AND MOUNT IT! PLUG THE VALET SWITCH INTO THE ALARM BRAIN! LAST BUT NOT LEAST MOUNT THE SHOCK SENSOR, I PREFER TO MOUNT THIS TO THE STEERING COLUMN WITH ZIP TIES!

NOW LETS GO OVER ALL THE WIRES TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE TIED UP NICE AND SECURE AND WONT INTERFERE WITH ANY MOVING PARTS IN THE UNDERDASH! PUT THE DASH BACK TOGETHER AND TEST THE ALARM, YOU MAY WANT TO ADJUST YOUR SHOCK SENSOR B4 PUTTING THE DASH BACK TOGETHER! THATS IT YOUR DONE!!! GOOD LUCK
